“Expecting”, which I donated to the Pilchuck Glass School auction, sold for $6,000.  I wasn’t at the auction itself, but this sale price means that there was a bidding war for my piece.  Go Pilchuck!

Yesterday I completed and delivered the family portrait commissioned by my friends and clients. 

The overall theme of their portrait is Wicked and Wizard of Oz, as these are two favorites that have significance in their family.  In the drawing, their family is traveling the yellow brick road, which contains their marriage vows, signifying that the road or the journey they are on is their marriage. 

Surrounding the road, connected by bridges they purposefully built, are the “lands” of their life – their close friendships, education and careers, hometowns and extended families, their daughters’ schools, their home, their “play” and pleasurable activities they do as a family, and their second home. 

Each family member is depicted with many specific details about their personalities, interests, and the special contributions they make to the family. 

I’m happy to say, they are thrilled with their portrait!
