Lifeforms Competition

Thursday, May 9th, 2013

Artist Robert Mickelsen has organized an exhibition and competition.  “Lifeforms will be an exhibition of the best biological glass models made in the spirit of the famous 19th and 20th century models of invertebrates and plants made by the father and son team, Rudolf and Leopold Blaschka for the Harvard University’s Botanical Museum. Models must be of specific species and rendered as accurately as possible, but artistic presentation and creative contexts are strongly encouraged.

The “juried” exhibition will be a show at the Hodge Gallery at the Pittsburgh Glass Center from July 5 to sometime in September. This show will consist of the award winning and jury selected entries only.”

For my entry, heirloom tomatoes offered by my carved wood hand.

Art Book Guy

Monday, April 1st, 2013

There’s a wonderful online art magazine called Art Book Guy.

Michael K. Corbin is on a mission to bring contemporary art, culture and life to everyday people, and to leave out the art snobbery rampant in many art magazines.

Michael is also an art collector and multi award-winning author of several books on art collecting.
